Home Repairs That Should Not Be Put Off
June 2nd, 2015 2:37 PM

It’s easy to push things aside, especially annoying repairs. But what we don’t think about is how much damage we are doing to our home by not taking care of the repairs the moment they need attention. Although some home repairs may be OK if not attended immediately, others should not be passed on. Here are a couple repairs that should not be put off:

Leaks.

All leaks whether they are plumbing, roof or gas should be taken care of as soon as they are detected. Water leaks, the longer you wait the more damage it does, the higher the repair prices will get. With a gas leak, its best to call 911 they will send a gas company technician to your home. Take care of it as soon as you notice it to avoid any dangers such as explosions.

Pests.

Pest infestations can ruin a home. They eat through wood and chew on roofs creating leaks.

Plugged or Broken Gutters.

Pools of water around your home can mean the gutters need cleaning or are broken. If you do not repair this when repair is noticed, it can leak down to your basement and create mold and rot.

Cracks in Your Home Foundation.

Foundation cracks, if big enough can be life threatening. It can cause stability issues in a home. Also, water and pests can get in through the foundation cracks as well which will cause greater damage and instability.

So as much as we love putting repairs aside, these make just have to be dealt with immediately.
